Keanu Reeves Takes On First Big TV Role With Leonardo DiCaprio-Produced ‘Devil in the White City’

Along with Reeves and DiCaprio, Martin Scorsese will produce a new Hulu series that follows the stories of the two men who played leading roles in the 1893 Chicago World’s Fair.

Keanu Reeves left the big screen to take on something new – a leading role on television.

Along with Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio, Reeves will executive produce Hulu’s new series Devil in the White City, written by Castle Rock producer Sam Shaw and directed by Little Children star Todd Field, Hulu announced Thursday.

Based on the bestseller of the same name by Erik Larson, the new series tells the story of Dr. H.H. Holmes, the con artist and serial killer who created the infamous “Murder Castle” at the 1893 Chicago World’s Fair, as well as Daniel H. Burnham, the architect and urban planner who changed the urban landscape and helped build the early skyscrapers.

The brilliant young Burnham will be played by actor John Wick (57). Although DiCaprio is an executive producer, he is not expected to appear on screen in the series, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

In a statement shared with PEOPLE, Hulu Originals and ABC Entertainment president Craig Erwich said the new series “tells a different kind of storytelling with incredibly compelling characters and forward-thinking stories that we constantly strive for in everything we do. “We do.”
