Uma Devi Pemmaraju was born on 31 March 1958 in Rajahmundry, Andhra Pradesh, India. 

His family then moved to the United States and he grew up in San Antonio, Texas.

She graduated from Trinity University in Texas with a BA in Political Science.

Early in his career, Pemmaraju joined KENS-TV and the San Antonio Express-News as a producer and reporter. 

She was also the editor of his college newspaper and joined KTVT-11 as a news anchor and correspondent. 

Pemmaraju was on the air when Fox News Joined on October 7, 1996.

At the time, She was one of the few Indian-American anchors to achieve national prominence. 

She previously anchored "Fox News Now" and "Fox On Trends."

She then left the network to explore other opportunities, but returned in 2003 as an anchor and substitute host for the entire network. 

She also worked at WBZ-TV and Bloomberg.
